Her job cleaning up magic gone wrong is dangerous, unappreciated and intense. Narrator, Renée Raudman brings Magic Burns to life and her interpretations of the characters are brilliant. Andrews’ world and its characters are complex and kept me engaged. Magic Burns is fresh and original with a storyline and characters that will have you casting the real world aside and losing yourself within its pages! If you have not tried the Kate Daniels series, I urge you to do so. While still gritty, Andrews’ added depth smoothed out some of the rougher aspects and endeared me to Kate. Magic Burns the second book in the Kate Daniels series has solidified this audio series as a favorite. And if Kate can't stop the cataclysmic showdown, the city may not survive. The stolen maps are only the opening gambit in an epic tug-of-war between two gods hoping for rebirth. During a flare, gods and goddesses can manifest and battle for power. Now Kate is going to have to deal with problems on a much bigger scale: a divine one. When Kate sets out to retrieve a set of stolen maps for the Pack, Atlanta's paramilitary clan of shapeshifters, she quickly realizes much more is at stake. But once every seven years, a flare comes, a time when magic runs rampant. Normally, waves of paranormal energy ebb and flow across Atlanta like a tide. Down in Atlanta, tempers-and temperatures-are about to flare. As a mercenary who cleans up after magic gone wrong, Kate Daniels has seen her share of occupational hazards.
